New dates and venues for workshops in 2010:

Citizenship.  This workshop will be held in Copenhagen on the 22nd to the 24th of March 2010. 

The overall purpose of the workshop is to work with citizenship both from a theoretical perspective and from the more practical perspective of education inspectors.
Day one deals with citizenship in a theoretical perspective and introduces several understandings to be used the following days.
The second day offers the participants common experiences and references from a 'pilot' school visit.  After the school visits the groups will work up their experiences and deduct some key challenges and possible common indicators of citizenship.
On the third day the work is focused on agreeing on conclusions, recommendations and key points of attentions to bear in mind when monitoring citizenship education.
The number of participants is limited on 35.

SICI Workshop: How to define and measure output/outcomes of schools?  'Using Student Achievement data for School Inspections'.   This workshop will be held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on the 18th and 19th of May 2010.

The overall purpose of the conference is to exhange knowledge and experiences in using student achievement data (attainment, progress, social performance) for school inspections. 

The meeting focuses on two key questions:

•What information on student achievement is available for school inspections?
•How can this information be used for inspections?

The questions will be answered for countries with standardised information available on student achievement data (test scores, exams, drop out rates), as well as for countries where these student data have to be collected and assessed during an inspection visit.

Inspecting teaching and learning.  This workshop will be held in Cardiff, Wales on the 9th and 10th of September 2010. 

Estyn, the education and training inspectorate for Wales is offering SICI members the opportunity to attend a two day conference focusing on the methodology behind inspecting teaching and learning.
